What is tungsten steel ?

Tungsten steel (also called cemented carbide) is an alloy material made by mixing fine carbide (WC) powder or titanium carbide (Tic) powder with cobalt powder as bonding metal and sintering at 1300~1500°C after pressure forming. Its hardness is about 90HRA, which is obviously higher than the common tool steel and is mainly used to make cutting tools.

Tungsten steel applications

The cemented carbide used for dies is mainly the tungsten carbide series. It is commonly used to make tungsten steel forming blanking dies, tungsten steel bending dies, tungsten steel drawing dies, tungsten steel engraving dies, tungsten steel hot extrusion dies, tungsten steel cold punching dies, tungsten steel cold heading dies, etc. Hardmetals are almost used for drawing dies and upsetting dies. The hard alloy has high hardness, so it has good wear resistance and strong compression resistance, but it also has the disadvantage of not being tensile resistant. Therefore, the round mold needs to be supplemented with a tool steel reinforcing ring, and the square mold needs to be supplemented with a reinforcing plate.

What is industrial ceramics?

Industrial ceramics are fired from highly refined zirconia or alumina raw materials at high temperatures. Industrial ceramics can be made into various non-standard-shaped parts as required, replacing metal parts as key parts.Application of Ceramics

Application of Ceramics

Ceramics can be used in thermal insulation tiles of space shuttles, warheads of intercontinental missiles, and rocket nozzle components in aerospace and military fields. It can be used in the engine combustion chamber, dispensing valve, rotor, corrosion-resistant impeller, flange, bearing, ball valve, seal, ceramic needle, semiconductor ceramic, ceramic bushing, etc.

Advantages of Carbide dies:

1. High processing strength, able to withstand a long-term load.
2. Excellent rebound force, which can resist repeated impact.
3. The hardness is high, seven times that of stainless steel and four times that of titanium gold. The hardness can be comparable to that of a diamond. It is hard and wear-resistant.
4. The brightness is very high. After polishing, it can give off a gem-like color and light, and the brightness can be comparable to a mirror.
5. With strong compression resistance, it is commonly used in high-precision machining, high-precision mold accessories, tool materials, lathes, and percussion drill bits.
6. It has poor toughness and tensile capacity and is easy to break under huge impact or tensile force.
